They created the feature length dramatic comedy, Ginger (based on Melissa’s own experience) which portrays the journey of a 23 year old woman being diagnosed and living through treatment. Melissa saw a lack of content and support for young adults, often being told she was too young for cancer. The Melissa & Jimmy Boratyn Foundation was born from the success of the feature film Ginger. Ginger has screened in several cities breaking the ice on difficult conversations, giving a voice to those who feel most alone, building community, and raising thousands of dollars in the process. At every screening we invite oncologists, social workers, survivors, and anyone else who we believe can help make cancer suck a little less to speak to our audiences. Ginger covered topics such as being young with cancer, struggling with finances, and the stress cancer can bring to friendships.
